About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator with a specialization in Microsoft Azure to join their IT operations team in Reading . This is an on-site role where you will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and optimization of their Azure cloud environment. You will ensure the stability, security, and performance of critical systems, working closely with the IT department to implement new solutions and support existing infrastructure. This position is ideal for a hands-on administrator who possesses deep technical knowledge of Azure services and is committed to maintaining a robust and efficient IT infrastructure. The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and system improvement within a dedicated team.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and maintain the Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Implement and manage Azure services, including VMs, storage, networking, and Azure AD.
- Develop and maintain scripts for automation of system administration tasks.
- Manage backups, disaster recovery, and security protocols for the Azure environment.
- Provide technical support for system-related issues and troubleshoot complex problems.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of applications in Azure.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in systems administration, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure.
- Proficiency in managing Azure core services (Compute, Storage, Networking, Azure AD).
- Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Bash.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware) and server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).
- Understanding of networking concepts and security best practices.
