About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Senior Systems Administrator to manage and maintain their IT infrastructure in Reading . This role is vital for ensuring the smooth operation, security, and reliability of all server systems, networks, and related hardware. You will be responsible for system upgrades, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and implementing robust backup and disaster recovery solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain server operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux).
- Manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and implement proactive solutions.
- Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues for end-users and IT staff.
- Develop and enforce IT policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and security best practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar IT infrastructure role.
- Strong knowledge of server operating systems, including Windows Server and Linux distributions.
- Experience with network configuration and management, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
- Proficiency in virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation tasks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
