About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly competent Senior Systems Administrator to manage and maintain their IT infrastructure in Sheffield . You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, reliability, and security of servers, networks, and related systems. This role requires a proactive individual with strong technical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently. You will play a key role in supporting the company's technological operations and contributing to the optimization of IT resources, working within a dedicated team focused on providing essential IT services.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).
- Manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Implement and monitor system security measures, ensuring data protection and compliance.
- Perform regular system backups and develop disaster recovery plans.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, providing timely resolution.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and policies.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in systems administration.
- Proficiency in managing both Windows Server and Linux environments.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols and concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSA, CompTIA Network+) are a plus.
