Senior Tax Accountant

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Tax Accountant to join their finance department in Plymouth . This hybrid role offers a significant opportunity to take ownership of the company's tax compliance and advisory functions, balancing remote work with essential in-office collaboration. You will be responsible for ensuring all tax obligations are met efficiently and effectively, providing strategic advice, and supporting the finance team with complex tax matters. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit all corporate tax returns accurately and on time, including Corporation Tax, VAT, and other relevant filings.
• Provide expert advice on tax implications of business decisions, including M&A, investments, and international expansion.
• Monitor changes in tax legislation and advise the business on potential impacts and opportunities.
• Manage relationships with HMRC and external tax advisors.
• Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the company's tax position.
• Assist with tax audits and investigations, ensuring a robust defence and resolution.

Requirements

• Tax qualification (e.g., ATT, CTA) or equivalent experience in a tax-focused role.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate tax, preferably within a professional services firm or industry.
• Comprehensive knowledge of UK tax legislation, including Corporation Tax, VAT, and international tax principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax laws.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with senior management and external bodies.
