Senior Technical Animator

About the Role

Our client seeks a highly skilled Senior Technical Animator to join their dynamic team in Coventry . You will be instrumental in developing and refining animation systems, pipelines, and tools that empower artists to create stunning in-game characters and environments. This role requires a deep understanding of both artistic principles and technical execution, bridging the gap between creative vision and interactive reality. You will collaborate closely with engineers and animators to ensure efficient, high-quality animation delivery for a flagship project, fostering innovation and pushing the boundaries of character performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize animation systems , including rigging, skinning, and motion capture pipelines.
• Create and implement complex character rigs that allow for a wide range of motion and expressive performances.
• Write and refine scripts to automate animation tasks and improve workflow efficiency.
• Collaborate with animators to troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions for complex animation challenges.
• Work closely with engineers to integrate animation systems into the game engine, ensuring performance and functionality.
• Stay abreast of the latest animation technology and techniques, identifying opportunities for implementation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in technical animation for video games or film.
• Proficiency in animation software such as Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender.
• Strong scripting skills in Python, MEL, or similar languages.
• Deep understanding of character rigging, skinning, and animation principles.
• Experience with game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity.
• A portfolio demonstrating advanced rigging and technical animation work is mandatory.
