About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Technical Animator to join their team in Oxford . You will be responsible for creating and optimizing character and creature animations, ensuring they meet both artistic and technical requirements for projects within the Arts & Entertainment industry. This role demands a blend of animation expertise and technical problem-solving skills, working closely with riggers, animators, and engineers to deliver high-quality, performance-driven motion. Your contributions will be vital in bringing characters to life with realistic and engaging movement.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, implement, and optimize high-quality character and creature animations for games or interactive experiences.
- Collaborate with the rigging team to ensure character rigs are robust and support desired animation performance.
- Work closely with game designers and animators to troubleshoot and refine animation systems and character locomotion.
- Develop and maintain animation tools and pipelines to improve efficiency and workflow for the animation team.
- Ensure animations are performant and integrated correctly within the game engine, addressing any technical challenges.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Technical Animator or Senior Animator with a strong technical focus, demonstrated through a portfolio.
- Expertise in animation software such as Maya, MotionBuilder, and familiarity with game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity.
- Strong understanding of animation principles, character rigging, skinning, and constraints.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python) for tool development and pipeline automation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
