Senior Technical Artist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Artist to join their innovative team in Cambridge , contributing to exciting projects within the Arts & Entertainment sector. You will serve as a crucial bridge between art and programming, optimizing art assets, developing tools, and solving technical challenges to enhance artistic quality and performance. This role requires a strong understanding of game engines, art pipelines, and scripting, making you instrumental in empowering the art team and ensuring the efficient delivery of visually stunning content from our Cambridge base.

Key Responsibilities

• Optimize 3D assets, textures, and shaders for real-time performance within game engines.
• Develop and maintain tools, scripts, and pipelines to improve art team efficiency and workflow.
• Collaborate with artists and programmers to troubleshoot technical art issues and implement solutions.
• Create and refine materials, shaders, and lighting setups to achieve desired visual styles.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the art team, including training on new tools and workflows.
• Research and implement new technologies and techniques to enhance visual quality and performance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Technical Artist or in a similar role within the game development or VFX industry.
• Proficiency in one or more 3D art packages (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Blender) and game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
• Strong understanding of PBR workflows, shader development, and material creation.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, MEL, or C#.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Experience with performance profiling and optimization techniques.
