About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Senior Technical Artist to join their established development team in Derby . You will be instrumental in bridging the gap between the art and engineering departments, optimizing workflows, and developing custom tools to enhance the creation and implementation of art assets. This role requires a deep understanding of both artistic principles and technical constraints, ensuring that the game's visuals are both stunning and performant. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize art pipelines and tools for 3D asset creation and integration.
- Collaborate with artists to troubleshoot asset integration issues and ensure adherence to technical specifications.
- Optimize game assets for performance, including memory usage, draw calls, and loading times.
- Work with engineers to implement and test new engine features and functionalities relevant to art production.
- Create and manage shader graphs and material setups to achieve desired visual outcomes efficiently.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Technical Artist in the game industry.
- Strong proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, MEL, C#) and game engine tools.
- Expertise in at least one major DCC package (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Blender) and game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
- Solid understanding of 3D modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation pipelines.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and communication skills to effectively liaise between art and code.
