About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Artist to join their innovative team in Sunderland . You will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between art and technology, developing tools, shaders, and pipelines that empower the art team to create stunning visuals efficiently. This position requires a unique blend of artistic sensibility and strong technical problem-solving skills. You will work closely with artists, engineers, and designers to optimize workflows, implement new technologies, and ensure the highest possible visual fidelity within project constraints, all within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain art pipelines, tools, and workflows to improve art asset creation efficiency.
- Create and optimize shaders, materials, and lighting solutions for game environments and characters.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered by the art team.
- Collaborate with engineers to implement new rendering features and optimize engine performance.
- Create and manage performance budgets for art assets, ensuring they meet technical requirements.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Technical Artist in the games industry.
- Strong proficiency in a game engine such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
- Expertise in scripting languages (e.g., Python, MEL, C#) for tool development.
- Solid understanding of 3D art principles, shaders, and rendering techniques.
- Experience with optimization techniques for real-time graphics.
