About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Artist to join their dynamic team in Edinburgh . You will bridge the gap between art and engineering, developing tools, pipelines, and workflows that empower the art team to create stunning visuals efficiently. This role is critical for optimizing art assets and ensuring they perform optimally within the game engine. You will be instrumental in pushing the visual fidelity and technical performance of our projects, working collaboratively to solve complex challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain art pipelines, tools, and scripts to enhance artistic productivity and asset quality.
• Optimize 3D models, textures, and materials for real-time rendering, ensuring adherence to performance budgets.
• Collaborate with engineers to implement and refine engine features relevant to art production.
• Create and troubleshoot complex shaders, materials, and visual effects.
• Provide technical support and training to the art team, helping them overcome technical hurdles in Edinburgh .

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Technical Artist in the game industry.
• Strong proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max) and texturing tools (e.g., Substance Painter).
• Expertise in a major game engine (Unreal Engine or Unity) and scripting languages like Python or MEL.
• Deep understanding of 3D graphics principles, rendering techniques, and optimization strategies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to communicate technical concepts effectively in a hybrid environment.
