About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Technical Artist to join their pioneering team in Plymouth . This role serves as a critical link between the art and engineering departments, focusing on optimizing art assets, developing efficient pipelines, and implementing cutting-edge visual technologies. You will work on challenging projects, solving complex visual and technical problems to ensure art assets are performant, aesthetically pleasing, and seamlessly integrated into the game engine. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize art pipelines, tools, and workflows to improve efficiency and asset quality.
- Implement and maintain shaders, materials, and visual effects within the game engine.
- Collaborate with artists to ensure assets meet technical requirements and performance budgets.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to art asset integration, rendering, and performance.
- Research and champion new technologies and techniques to enhance visual fidelity and artistic possibilities.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Artist in the game development industry.
- Proficiency with industry-standard 3D modeling, texturing, and rendering software.
- Strong experience with game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity, including shader development and material creation.
- Scripting skills (e.g., Python, MEL, C#) for pipeline automation and tool development.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both artists and engineers.
