About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Artist to join their studio in Stoke-on-Trent . In this crucial role, you will bridge the gap between art and engineering, optimizing art assets and developing tools and workflows to enhance the efficiency and quality of our game development pipeline. You will work closely with artists and programmers to solve complex technical challenges, ensuring that our visual targets are met within performance constraints. Your expertise will be vital in empowering the art team to create stunning visuals while maintaining seamless integration into the game engine, contributing to the overall technical and artistic success of our projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain art pipelines, tools, and scripts to improve artist productivity and asset quality.
- Collaborate with artists to troubleshoot asset creation issues and ensure they meet technical specifications.
- Optimize 3D models, textures, and materials for real-time rendering performance within the game engine.
- Implement and refine shaders, lighting solutions, and visual effects in conjunction with the art and engineering teams.
- Provide technical support and training to the art team on pipeline tools and best practices.
- Research and implement new technologies and techniques to improve art asset creation and performance.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Technical Artist in the game development industry.
- Strong proficiency in 3D modeling and texturing software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Substance Suite).
- Expertise in scripting languages such as Python or MEL for tool development.
- In-depth knowledge of game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and their rendering pipelines.
- Understanding of shader development, material authoring, and performance optimization techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
