Senior Technical Artist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Artist to join their innovative development team in their Stoke-on-Trent studio. This role is crucial for bridging the gap between art and technology, ensuring that artistic vision is realized efficiently and performantly within the game engine. You will be responsible for developing tools, optimizing assets, and troubleshooting technical challenges to empower the art team. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain custom tools and scripts to streamline art asset creation and integration pipelines.
• Optimize 3D models, textures, and shaders for performance across various platforms.
• Work closely with artists and programmers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to art assets.
• Implement and manage art pipelines, ensuring adherence to technical constraints and best practices.
• Create and maintain documentation for art tools, pipelines, and technical guidelines.
• Train and support artists on the use of new tools and workflows.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Technical Artist in the game development industry.
• Strong proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max) and game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine).
• Expertise in scripting languages such as Python, MEL, or C#.
• Solid understanding of shader development and optimization techniques.
• Experience with performance profiling and debugging art assets.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
