Senior Technical Artist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Technical Artist to join their game development team in Sheffield . This pivotal role bridges the gap between art and programming, focusing on optimizing art assets, developing tools and pipelines, and ensuring the smooth integration of visual elements into the game engine. You will work collaboratively with artists and engineers to solve technical challenges, improve workflows, and enhance the overall visual quality and performance of the game, playing a crucial part in the creation of cutting-edge Arts & Entertainment experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize art pipelines, tools, and workflows to improve efficiency and quality for the art team.
• Collaborate with engineers to implement and troubleshoot complex technical art features, shaders, and systems.
• Optimize 3D models, textures, and animations for real-time performance across target platforms.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for art pipelines, tools, and asset creation best practices.
• Provide technical support and training to the art team, ensuring adherence to technical specifications.
• Identify and implement solutions for performance bottlenecks and visual fidelity issues within the game engine.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Technical Artist in the game development industry.
• Strong proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, MEL, C#) and familiarity with game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine , Unity).
• Expertise in 3D modeling and texturing software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Substance Suite).
• Solid understanding of real-time rendering techniques, shaders, and material creation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, communication, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
