Senior Telecoms Field Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Telecoms Field Engineer to join their technical services team in Sunderland . This role is essential for providing on-site installation, maintenance, and repair services for a wide range of telecommunications infrastructure and equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of service delivery, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and contributing to the operational efficiency of our client's network. As a senior member of the team, you will also play a role in guiding junior engineers and upholding the company's reputation for technical excellence in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform installations, upgrades, and maintenance of telecommunications systems, including fibre optic cabling, routers, and switches.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical faults on customer premises and network infrastructure.
• Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine optimal equipment placement and configuration.
• Ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, adhering to company procedures.
• Provide technical guidance and support to field engineers and contribute to team training initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment status, and client interactions in the Sunderland area.

Requirements

• Significant experience (4+ years) as a Field Engineer in the telecommunications sector.
• Strong technical knowledge of fibre optics, copper cabling, networking equipment, and related technologies.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and test equipment for fault finding and performance testing.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet service level agreements.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges.
• Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel extensively within the Sunderland region.
