Senior Telecoms Field Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Telecoms Field Technician to join their operational team based in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is crucial for the deployment, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications infrastructure across the region. You will be responsible for undertaking complex installations and providing expert technical support directly at customer sites and network facilities. This is a hands-on position for an individual passionate about telecommunications technology, keen on delivering high-quality service and contributing to the reliability of vital communication networks in the North East of England .

Key Responsibilities

• Perform installation, testing, and commissioning of telecommunications equipment and services in the field.
• Conduct diagnostic tests and resolve faults on various network systems, including fibre optic and copper lines.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior field technicians.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations while working on-site.
• Manage inventory of equipment and tools, ensuring readiness for deployment.
• Communicate effectively with customers, providing updates on work progress and technical solutions.

Requirements

• Significant experience as a Telecoms Field Technician or in a similar hands-on role.
• Proficiency in working with fibre optic splicing, testing equipment, and copper cabling.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications principles and network architecture.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently under pressure.
• Valid UK driving license and a willingness to travel extensively within the designated area.
