Senior Telecoms Infrastructure Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Telecoms Infrastructure Engineer to join their team in Bristol . This role is critical for the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of the company's core telecommunications infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the robustness, scalability, and security of the network, working with advanced technologies to support a wide range of services across the South West England region. This is a key position for a highly skilled engineer eager to take on significant responsibilities and influence the technological direction of a leading UK telecoms company, leveraging a hybrid working model.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of scalable and resilient telecommunications infrastructure, including IP networks, fibre optic systems, and transmission equipment.
• Oversee the implementation and integration of new network technologies and services.
• Develop and execute strategic plans for network capacity management and performance optimization.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, providing expert-level support and root cause analysis.
• Define and enforce network security policies and best practices to protect infrastructure assets.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on infrastructure projects.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in telecommunications infrastructure engineering, with a focus on network design and deployment.
• In-depth knowledge of IP routing protocols, MPLS, DWDM, and other carrier-grade technologies.
• Proven experience with network hardware from major vendors and robust understanding of network security principles.
• Experience in capacity planning, performance tuning, and network resilience strategies.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage technical projects.
• A relevant degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
