About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Telecoms Network Administrator to join their expanding team, operating primarily remotely but supporting operations in the Bristol region. This role is vital for maintaining the health, security, and performance of our client's sophisticated telecommunications network infrastructure. You will be responsible for system administration, performance tuning, and implementing upgrades to ensure a stable and efficient network environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned administrator to leverage their expertise in a challenging and rewarding remote role, impacting critical communication systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and maintain the company's telecommunications network infrastructure, including servers, switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Implement and manage network security measures to protect against threats and ensure data integrity.
- Perform regular system backups, disaster recovery planning, and testing.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues, identify root causes, and implement timely solutions.
- Plan and execute network upgrades, patches, and configuration changes.
- Provide technical support to end-users and other IT teams as needed.
- Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in network administration , with a specialization in telecommunications environments.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and network security principles.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell) for automation.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to network management.
