Senior Telecoms Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Telecoms Security Engineer to lead the charge in protecting their telecommunications infrastructure. Based in Randburg , you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing robust security measures to safeguard network assets and sensitive data. This role requires a deep understanding of network security principles, threat landscapes, and best practices within the telecommunications sector. You will play a critical role in identifying vulnerabilities, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with security policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement comprehensive security solutions for telecommunications networks, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs.
• Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests to identify potential risks.
• Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures across the network infrastructure.
• Monitor security alerts and incidents, responding rapidly to contain and resolve threats.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure security is integrated into the design and deployment of new systems.
• Stay current with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques relevant to the telecom industry.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in telecoms network security or cybersecurity engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of network security protocols, tools, and technologies.
• Proven experience with security hardening, incident response, and risk management.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or GIAC are highly preferred.
