Senior Telecoms Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Telecoms Security Engineer to safeguard their network infrastructure in Sheffield . In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing advanced security solutions to protect sensitive data and ensure the integrity of telecommunications services. You will proactively identify vulnerabilities, respond to security incidents, and stay ahead of emerging threats within the evolving landscape of the telecoms industry. Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain robust network security solutions, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and encryption technologies.
• Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests.
• Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures across the network infrastructure.
• Respond to and investigate security incidents, implementing containment and eradication strategies.
• Collaborate with network operations and engineering teams to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of network design and deployment.
• Stay current with the latest security threats, trends, and technologies, providing recommendations for improvements.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in network security , with a focus on telecommunications environments.
• In-depth knowledge of network protocols, security principles, and common attack vectors.
• Hands-on experience with security tools such as SIEM, firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco), and endpoint security solutions.
• Experience with cloud security principles (AWS, Azure) is highly desirable.
• Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or CISM are strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
