About the Role
Our client is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Urban Designer to join their established practice based in Belfast . This role is pivotal in shaping the future of our cities and communities, focusing on the design and planning of sustainable, vibrant, and well-connected urban environments. You will lead significant urban design projects, from initial strategy and masterplanning to detailed design guidelines, working collaboratively with local authorities, developers, and stakeholders. This position requires a deep understanding of urban planning principles, a creative flair for design, and strong leadership capabilities to drive projects forward within a dedicated team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of urban design strategies, masterplans, and design codes for various scales of development.
- Prepare high-quality design proposals, visuals, and reports for client presentations and public consultations.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including architects, landscape architects, and transport planners, to integrate design solutions.
- Engage effectively with stakeholders, including community groups, local authorities, and developers, to build consensus and support for design proposals.
- Ensure designs respond to social, economic, and environmental contexts, promoting sustainability and inclusivity.
- Undertake site analysis and feasibility studies to inform design development and strategy.
Requirements
- A professional qualification in Urban Design, Architecture, Planning, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in leading and delivering complex urban design projects.
- Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD , SketchUp , and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong understanding of urban planning policy, development frameworks, and design principles.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.
