Senior Urban Designer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a visionary Senior Urban Designer to join their multidisciplinary team in Edinburgh . This role focuses on shaping the future of urban environments, developing masterplans, and contributing to policies that create vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive communities. You will collaborate with a range of stakeholders, including local authorities, developers, and community groups, to bring ambitious urban regeneration projects to life. This is a unique chance to influence the design and development of public spaces and neighbourhoods in one of the UK's most historic cities, working within a collaborative and innovative studio environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of urban masterplans and design frameworks for complex sites.
• Conduct spatial analysis, site assessments, and feasibility studies for urban development projects.
• Prepare high-quality visualisations, reports, and presentations for stakeholders and public consultations.
• Collaborate with architects, landscape architects, transport planners, and engineers to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Advise on urban design policy, design codes, and development management guidelines.
• Engage with community groups and facilitate public participation in the design process.

Requirements

• A degree in Urban Design, Architecture, Planning, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in urban design or a closely related field.
• Proficiency in urban design software such as AutoCAD, GIS, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong understanding of planning systems, development processes, and public policy in the UK.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholder relationships effectively.
