Senior Urban Designer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Urban Designer to join their multidisciplinary team in Oxford . This role focuses on shaping the future of urban environments through innovative and sustainable design strategies. You will be responsible for leading the design and planning of masterplans, regeneration projects, and new developments, working closely with planning authorities, developers, and community stakeholders. This hybrid position offers a fantastic opportunity to influence the spatial quality of cities and towns, fostering vibrant and sustainable communities, with a balance of office-based collaboration and remote working flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of urban design strategies, masterplans, and design frameworks for large-scale projects.
• Conduct site analysis, feasibility studies, and context appraisals to inform design proposals.
• Prepare high-quality design documentation, including concept designs, illustrative plans, and design guidance.
• Engage with stakeholders, including clients, planning officers, and the public, to build consensus and support for design proposals.
• Collaborate with architects, landscape architects, engineers, and transport planners to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Ensure designs respond to social, economic, and environmental sustainability principles.

Requirements

• A degree in Urban Design, Architecture, Planning, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years' experience in urban design or masterplanning roles.
• Proven track record of leading significant urban design projects from concept to delivery.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD , Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and ideally GIS software.
• Strong understanding of planning policy, urban design principles, and placemaking.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
