About the Role
Our client, a leading consultancy in Glasgow , is seeking an experienced Senior Urban Designer to contribute to transformative placemaking projects. This role involves shaping the future of communities through thoughtful, sustainable, and contextually sensitive design strategies. You will play a key role in developing masterplans, design guidelines, and development frameworks for a range of urban regeneration and new development projects. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of urban planning principles, excellent design communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders to deliver impactful urban environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive masterplans and strategic design frameworks for urban regeneration and new development projects.
- Prepare design guidance, policy recommendations, and development briefs for planning applications.
- Conduct site analysis, research, and feasibility studies to inform design development.
- Lead design workshops and public consultation events, engaging effectively with communities and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with architects, landscape architects, engineers, and planning professionals to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Produce high-quality visualisations, reports, and presentations to communicate design concepts and strategies.
Requirements
- A degree in Urban Design, Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Significant professional experience in urban design, masterplanning, or strategic development planning.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating a track record of successful urban design projects and masterplans.
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite) and GIS tools.
- Excellent understanding of planning policy, development processes, and sustainability principles in urban contexts.
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with proven experience in stakeholder engagement.
