Senior Wind Turbine Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Wind Turbine Technician to join their expanding operations team in Cardiff . This role is integral to maintaining the optimal performance and longevity of their wind farm assets, ensuring maximum energy generation. You will be responsible for leading diagnostic, maintenance, and repair activities on complex wind turbine systems, working at heights and in diverse weather conditions. This is a hands-on role for an individual passionate about renewable energy and committed to upholding the highest safety and technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs on wind turbine components, including gearboxes, generators, and control systems.
• Lead diagnostic troubleshooting efforts to identify and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
• Supervise and mentor junior technicians, providing guidance on best practices and safety procedures.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in strict adherence to health and safety regulations and company policies.
• Utilize SCADA systems and diagnostic tools to monitor turbine performance and identify potential problems proactively.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation of all work performed, including maintenance logs and incident reports.

Requirements

• Recognized qualification or apprenticeship in electrical, mechanical, or wind turbine technology.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a wind turbine technician , with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity.
• Proven ability to work safely at heights and in challenging environmental conditions.
• Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems common in wind turbines .
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, multimeters, and relevant software for turbine monitoring.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
