Services Manager

Single Homeless Project has a new opportunity for a Services Manager to join our team based in Lewisham. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary starting at £46,988.17 and rising incrementally to £50,128.66 per annum.

We’re London’s leading homelessness charity – and we get things done.

In a city where hundreds are forced into homelessness every day, our work has never been more needed or more challenging. And we’re not shying away. We’re rolling up our sleeves to make change and helping over 10,000 Londoners every year. We prevent homelessness, provide safe places to live and give people the opportunity to rebuild their lives and transform their futures. And we never give up.

We’re here for Londoners wherever they are on their journey. We start with trust, building relationships that help people feel safe, supported, and ready to move forward. Every day, we put people first in everything we do, challenging injustice and barriers that keep people from the safety, stability and opportunity they deserve. We stand alongside people as they rebuild and shape a future that feels their own.

Joining Single Homeless Project means joining a team that’s bold, compassionate and determined to do better for the people we support and for each other. You’ll work alongside colleagues with lived experience, in a space that’s trans-inclusive, disability-friendly, and actively striving to be anti-oppressive and equitable.

We’re not perfect, but we’re real. We listen. We learn. And we push forward, together. Because this isn’t just a job. It’s a chance to lead with empathy, spark change, and help build a London where no one is left behind.

About the Services Manager role:

A safe place to live can be the foundation for someone to rebuild far more than their housing. As Services Manager for our Lewisham Vulnerable Adults Accommodation Service (LVAAS), you’ll lead a service supporting adults who have experienced homelessness and multiple disadvantage, creating the conditions for people to feel safe, regain control and move towards greater independence. SHP LVAAS is split across two staffed Hubs and operates a floating support model to people living independently in their homes.

You’ll hold the bigger picture for the service while empowering your Team Manager and frontline colleagues to deliver excellent support day to day. From safeguarding, risk and service quality to housing management, occupancy, move-on, budgets and performance, you’ll make sure the service is safe, responsive and continually developing. You’ll champion psychologically informed, strengths-based practice and make sure clients’ goals, choices and lived experience genuinely shape the support they receive.

This is also a role built on relationships. You’ll work closely with Lewisham commissioners, referral partners, health and treatment services and other agencies to solve problems, challenge barriers and connect people with the right opportunities and support. You’ll bring calm judgement when situations become challenging, use information and learning to strengthen practice, and build a culture where staff feel trusted, supported and accountable.

At Single Homeless Project (SHP), you’ll be supported to keep developing too, with access to learning and development opportunities and the chance to build your leadership experience and progress your career across a diverse organisation.

What we're looking for in our Services Manager:

Experience of leading high-quality accommodation or support services for people experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantage, with the confidence to lead effectively through managers and frontline teams.

Sound judgement around safeguarding, risk and challenging situations, with the ability to balance different priorities and make clear, proportionate decisions when the pressure is on.

A strong understanding of person-led, strengths-based and psychologically informed support, and how to turn those principles into consistently good practice across a service.

Confidence overseeing the operational detail that keeps a service strong — including housing management, performance, budgets, resources and continuous improvement — without losing sight of the people behind the numbers.

The ability to build credible relationships with commissioners, partners, colleagues & local communities - bringing people together around solutions and challenge barriers when they are getting in the way of better outcomes for clients.

Our attractive benefits package includes:

A salary increase after successfully completing six month's probationary period

A 37.5 hour working week including flexible working hours (core hours are 10am – 4pm) in non-accommodation services

25 days annual leave, increasing annually to the maximum 30 days (plus paid Bank Holidays),

A contributory pension scheme: Single Homeless Project will contribute the equivalent of 5% of your annual salary

Staff Health Cash Plan and discounts scheme

Comprehensive and integrated training programme designed specifically to develop the skills and knowledge involved in our work
