Sessional Lecturer – CELTA

Provisional delivery day: Every Tuesday from 12th January – 22nd June 2027

We’re looking for a hard-working, collaborative and enthusiastic Sessional Lecturer to join our Teacher Education team at South Thames College, supporting our students to progress, achieve and reach their full potential.

You’ll play an important role in delivering the Cambridge CELTA programme, helping trainee teachers develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to teach English to speakers of other languages. You’ll deliver engaging training sessions, observe teaching practice, assess written assignments and provide constructive, developmental feedback to support trainees throughout their learning journey.

To be successful, you’ll hold a degree or relevant professional qualification, a Cambridge CELTA qualification and a recognised teaching qualification such as a PGCE, Cert Ed, DET or equivalent. You’ll also bring substantial experience of teaching ESOL/EFL learners, together with excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated English language teaching professional who is passionate about teacher education and committed to developing the next generation of ESOL and EFL practitioners.

Please note: This is an ongoing post; however, teaching hours may vary from one academic year to the next, depending on curriculum requirements and student demand.

Closing date for the return of completed applications is 13th November 2026

There is a generous benefits package and an excellent pension scheme that receives a significant financial contribution from the employer (Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme), subsidised sports facilities and professional development and training plus a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme.
