About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Site Civil Engineer to join their project team in Portsmouth . This hands-on role is essential for overseeing the day-to-day construction activities on site, ensuring that all civil engineering works are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will be the primary point of contact for site operations, coordinating with various trades and stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer looking to gain valuable site experience and contribute directly to the physical development of infrastructure projects in the Hampshire region.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and manage all on-site civil engineering activities, including earthworks, concrete structures, and drainage installations.
Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations on the construction site.
Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and schedules, translating them into site actions.
Monitor progress, quality of work, and material usage, reporting on site status regularly.
Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and the project management team to resolve site issues.
Maintain accurate site records, including daily logs, measurement records, and safety reports.

Requirements

Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or a related construction discipline.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a site-based role within civil engineering or construction.
Practical knowledge of construction methods, site safety procedures, and quality control.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Strong communication and organizational skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Familiarity with site measurement and basic surveying techniques.
