Site Civil Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Site Civil Engineer to manage and oversee the execution of civil engineering works on-site for projects in and around Sunderland . This hands-on role is critical for ensuring that construction projects are completed safely, on time, and to the specified quality standards. You will be the primary technical point of contact on the ground, coordinating activities, resolving site issues, and maintaining rigorous safety standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive engineer to gain invaluable site experience and contribute directly to the successful delivery of tangible infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage daily construction activities on civil engineering sites.
• Ensure all works are carried out in strict accordance with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
• Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks.
• Implement and monitor health and safety procedures on site, conducting toolbox talks and risk assessments.
• Manage site resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, to ensure efficient project progression.
• Liaise with the design team to address any site-related queries or design modifications required.
• Maintain accurate site records, including progress reports, daily logs, and incident reports.

Requirements

• Degree or HND/HNC in Civil Engineering or a related construction discipline.
• Proven experience working as a Site Engineer or Civil Engineer on construction sites.
• Solid understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and health & safety legislation.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage a site team.
• Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to various sites within the Sunderland area.
