Site Civil Engineer

About the Role

Our client requires a competent and proactive Site Civil Engineer to oversee the execution of civil engineering works on various construction sites in and around Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, UK . This hands-on role demands a strong understanding of construction methodologies, quality control, and health & safety regulations. You will be the primary technical point of contact on site, ensuring that engineering works are carried out to the highest standards, on schedule, and within budget. This is a critical role for ensuring the successful delivery of projects, contributing to the company's reputation for quality and reliability in the North East.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all on-site civil engineering activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
• Implement and enforce strict health, safety, and environmental protocols on site.
• Monitor progress, quality, and resource allocation, reporting regularly to the project manager.
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications, providing technical guidance to site teams and subcontractors.
• Conduct quality assurance checks and resolve any site-related engineering issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, progress logs, and material records.

Requirements

• HND or degree in Civil Engineering or a related construction discipline.
• Significant site experience (5+ years) in a similar role, managing civil works.
• Comprehensive knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and health & safety legislation (e.g., CDM regulations).
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid CSCS card or equivalent is essential.
