Site Engineer: Major Civil Engineering & Tunnelling Project
North Wales
£350–£400 per day Outside IR35

We are looking for an experienced Site Engineer to join the delivery team on a major civil engineering and energy infrastructure project in North Wales.
This is a technically challenging major infrastructure programme involving significant underground and tunnelling works, alongside associated shafts, structures and supporting civil engineering infrastructure.
The position would suit a Site Engineer with a strong heavy civils background who is comfortable working within a major project environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Section Engineer, you will be responsible for engineering and quality control across your area of works, including:
- Setting out and providing accurate engineering control for construction works
- Working from approved drawings, designs and project specifications
- Producing permits, task briefs and associated site documentation
- Supporting delivery against the construction programme and short-term lookaheads
- Undertaking inspections and checks in accordance with ITPs
- Maintaining accurate quality assurance and engineering records
- Supporting temporary works activities alongside the TWC and site supervision
- Identifying design discrepancies and escalating issues for resolution
- Maintaining accurate site diaries covering progress, resources, changes and issues
- Working closely with subcontractors and the wider project delivery team
- Ensuring works comply with project health, safety, environmental and quality requirements
Essential Experience Required
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a Site Engineer within civil engineering
- Strong setting-out and engineering control experience
- Experience working on major infrastructure or heavy civils projects
- Good understanding of construction drawings, specifications and ITPs
- Experience producing and maintaining engineering and quality records
- Good understanding of temporary works and site assurance requirements
- Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements
- Ability to work effectively with Section Engineers, site management and subcontractors
Experience within tunnelling, shafts, underground infrastructure, energy infrastructure or major reinforced concrete works would be particularly advantageous.
