About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative Smart Grid Solutions Architect to lead the design and implementation of next-generation grid technologies in Cambridge . This pivotal role involves conceptualizing, developing, and overseeing the deployment of advanced grid solutions that enhance reliability, efficiency, and sustainability. You will work at the intersection of IT, OT, and energy systems, collaborating with stakeholders across engineering, operations, and business development. Key Responsibilities

• Design comprehensive smart grid architectures , including components for monitoring, control, communication, and data management.
• Define technical requirements and specifications for grid modernization projects, integrating distributed energy resources (DERs).
• Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and platforms for grid automation and optimization.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business objectives, technical requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Develop roadmaps for the evolution of the smart grid infrastructure.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from conception to deployment and operation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Extensive experience (7+ years) in smart grid technologies , power systems, or utility operations.
• Proven track record in designing and implementing complex technical solutions, preferably in the energy sector.
• Deep understanding of grid modernization concepts, including AMI, SCADA, DER integration, and cybersecurity for critical infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of communication protocols relevant to the energy industry (e.g., DNP3, IEC 61850).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
