Embedded Software Engineer – UAV & Autonomous Systems- Bristol- Permanent- £70,000-£90,000

We are looking for an Software Engineer with experience in Embedded C to join an innovative engineering team and help develop the next generation of autonomous aircraft.

The Role

You'll be responsible for developing, integrating and maintaining software running onboard UAV platforms, including autopilots, autonomy systems, payloads and other embedded subsystems.

Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, you'll contribute to new platform developments, enhance existing software and deliver innovative solutions for demanding operational environments.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, integrate and debug embedded software for UAV platforms.

Develop and maintain software using C++ and/or Rust.

*

Contribute to software architecture, roadmaps and new platform capabilities.

*

Support system integration, testing and flight trials.

*

Develop automated testing and verification solutions.

*

Collaborate with international engineering teams to deliver innovative technology.

What We're Looking For

*

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

*

Experience with embedded software development using C++ or Rust.

*

Strong Linux and software development skills.

*

Experience with AI coding tools such as Claude.

*

A background or interest in UAVs, robotics, autonomous systems or aerospace technology.
