Solar Energy Systems Designer

About the Role

Our client is looking for an innovative and detail-oriented Solar Energy Systems Designer to join their remote-first team. You will be responsible for designing and engineering high-performance solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for a variety of residential and commercial applications. This role involves performing site assessments (remotely where possible), creating detailed system schematics, and ensuring designs meet all technical, safety, and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with sales, installation, and project management teams to deliver optimal solar solutions, contributing to the growth of sustainable energy initiatives from the comfort of your home.

Key Responsibilities

• Design custom solar PV systems , including component selection and layout optimisation.
• Perform remote site assessments and energy production estimations using advanced software.
• Develop detailed technical drawings, electrical schematics, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, electrical standards, and renewable energy regulations.
• Collaborate with sales teams to provide technical support during the sales process.
• Work with installation teams to address any design-related queries during project execution in the energy sector .

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in designing solar energy systems .
• Proficiency with solar design software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD).
• Strong understanding of PV module technology, inverters, battery storage, and grid-interconnection standards.
• Knowledge of relevant electrical codes and safety standards in the energy industry .
• Excellent spatial reasoning and technical drawing skills.
