About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and commercially astute Solar Project Developer to join their growing renewable energy team in Brighton . This role is fundamental to identifying, evaluating, and securing new solar energy project opportunities. You will be responsible for the entire project development lifecycle, from initial site identification and feasibility studies through to securing planning permissions and grid connections. Working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, you will play a critical part in expanding the company's portfolio of solar assets and contributing to the UK's clean energy transition. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with a passion for renewable energy.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and assess potential sites for solar PV projects, conducting preliminary feasibility studies and due diligence.
- Lead the development process, including securing land rights, planning consents, and grid connection agreements.
- Develop robust financial models and business cases for solar projects, securing investment and financing.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, local authorities, grid operators, and other key stakeholders.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and supply chain contracts.
- Work closely with engineering and construction teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Environmental Science, Engineering, or Finance.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in renewable energy project development , specifically within the solar sector.
- Demonstrated success in securing planning permissions and grid connections for solar projects.
- Strong understanding of the UK solar market, policy landscape, and financial mechanisms.
- Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with project management tools and financial modelling software.
