About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations for banqueting events in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is ideal for a chef with a passion for large-scale event catering, seeking to develop their leadership skills in a fast-paced environment. You will assist with menu planning, food preparation, team supervision, and ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality dishes for diverse functions, from intimate gatherings to large banquets. This is a hands-on position requiring dedication to culinary excellence and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in menu development and execution for various banqueting events.
- Supervise and mentor kitchen staff during food preparation and service to maintain quality standards.
- Ensure consistency in portion control, presentation, and flavour profiles of all dishes.
- Manage kitchen inventory, stock rotation, and ordering to minimize waste and control costs.
- Uphold rigorous standards of food hygiene and safety in all kitchen activities.
- Deputize for the Head Chef in their absence, ensuring smooth kitchen operations.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or strong experience as a Senior Chef de Partie in banqueting or event catering.
- Solid understanding of culinary techniques and presentation for large-scale events.
- Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a kitchen team effectively.
- Knowledge of food costing, inventory management, and supplier liaison.
- Relevant culinary qualifications and a commitment to high standards.
