Sous Chef - Event Catering

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and motivated Sous Chef to join their prestigious event catering team in Portsmouth . In this role, you will work closely with the Head Chef, supporting the creation and execution of exceptional culinary experiences for a wide range of events. You will be involved in menu development, kitchen management, and leading a team of chefs to deliver high-quality food consistently, ensuring client satisfaction and operational success.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, recipe development, and costing for diverse event catering needs.
• Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
• Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff, providing guidance and training to foster skill development.
• Maintain strict compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations in the kitchen.
• Manage inventory, stock control, and ordering of ingredients to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Step in as Head Chef in their absence, ensuring seamless continuation of kitchen operations.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef in a busy catering or restaurant environment.
• Strong culinary skills and a passion for creating high-quality dishes.
• Knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen management best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Portsmouth area.
