About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in leading the kitchen brigade at a popular restaurant in Edinburgh . You will be instrumental in maintaining the high standards of food quality, consistency, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen management, including menu planning, food preparation, and staff supervision.
- Oversee kitchen operations during service, ensuring smooth execution and adherence to recipes and standards.
- Manage inventory, including ordering supplies, controlling stock levels, and minimising waste.
- Train and mentor junior chefs and kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Ensure strict compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
- Deputise for the Head Chef in their absence, maintaining kitchen standards and operational continuity.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a reputable establishment.
- Strong culinary skills and a comprehensive understanding of various cooking techniques.
- Experience in inventory management, cost control, and stock rotation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Thorough knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain high standards in a fast-paced kitchen environment in Edinburgh .
