About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and ambitious Sous Chef to join their esteemed culinary team in Edinburgh . As the second-in-command in the kitchen, you will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef, ensuring the smooth operation of daily service, maintaining high standards of food quality, and assisting in staff supervision and training. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen management, including menu planning, recipe development, and quality control.
- Oversee kitchen operations during the Head Chef's absence, ensuring seamless service and adherence to standards.
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and efficient working environment.
- Manage inventory, ordering of supplies, and stock rotation to control food costs and minimize waste.
- Ensure strict compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
- Prepare and cook dishes to a high standard during service, maintaining consistency and presentation.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or a Senior Chef de Partie in a reputable establishment.
- Strong culinary skills with a passion for quality ingredients and innovative cuisine.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team management abilities.
- Solid understanding of kitchen management, including stock control, cost management, and food safety protocols.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and maintain high standards.
- Relevant culinary qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
