About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly organised and empathetic Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead their Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision in Milton Keynes . This pivotal role involves ensuring that all students with additional needs receive the appropriate support to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to implement effective strategies and foster an inclusive educational environment within the Milton Keynes school.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor the school's SEND policy and provision.
- Coordinate the identification and assessment of students with special educational needs.
- Liaise with parents/carers, teachers, and external specialists to create and review individual education plans (IEPs).
- Provide guidance and training to school staff on SEND best practices and strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of SEND provision and student progress.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to obtain it).
- Significant experience working with students with a range of special educational needs.
- In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
