About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to oversee the provision for students with additional learning needs in Belfast . This critical role involves leading the school's approach to identifying, assessing, and supporting pupils with SEN, ensuring they receive the necessary resources and tailored education to thrive. You will work closely with teaching staff, parents, external agencies, and senior leadership to implement effective support strategies and foster an inclusive school culture. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of the school's SEN policy and provision.
• Coordinate the identification and assessment of students with special educational needs.
• Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a collaborative approach to support.
• Support teaching staff in understanding and meeting the needs of SEN pupils through training and guidance.
• Maintain accurate records and manage the SEN budget effectively.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with significant teaching experience.
• National Award for SEN Coordination (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
• In-depth knowledge of SEN legislation, policies, and best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Experience in developing and delivering training to staff on SEN matters.
