About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to oversee the provision for students with special educational needs in Belfast . This crucial role involves leading the school's SEN policy and practice, ensuring all students with additional needs receive the support required to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teaching staff, parents, external agencies, and the students themselves to create effective support plans and foster an inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor the school's SEN policy and provision.
• Coordinate the day-to-day implementation of the SEN policy, ensuring access to appropriate learning opportunities for all identified students.
• Liaise effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure coordinated support for students.
• Provide training and guidance to teaching and support staff on SEN matters.
• Maintain accurate records and oversee the assessment of students with special educational needs.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with significant teaching experience.
• The National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (or willingness to undertake it).
• In-depth knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Experience in developing and implementing effective Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
