About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly organised and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead their Inclusion team in Belfast . This vital role involves overseeing the provision for students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the appropriate support to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers, parents, external agencies, and the students themselves to develop and implement effective strategies. This position is crucial for maintaining and enhancing the school's commitment to inclusive education.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of the school's SEND policy and provision.
• Coordinate the day-to-day implementation of the SEND system within the school, liaising with all relevant staff.
• Manage and oversee the Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan process for all identified students.
• Provide guidance and training to teaching staff on meeting the needs of students with a range of learning difficulties.
• Liaise effectively with parents/carers and external agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to support.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with significant teaching experience.
• National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (or willingness to obtain).
• In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation and best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and inter-personal skills.
• Experience in managing support staff and working collaboratively within a school environment in Belfast .
