About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to oversee and manage SEND provision across their school in Sunderland . This crucial role involves developing and implementing effective strategies to support students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive the appropriate resources and interventions to achieve their full potential. You will be a key member of the leadership team, collaborating with teachers, parents, and external agencies to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and review the school's SEND policy and practice in line with statutory requirements.
• Coordinate the day-to-day running of the SEND department, including managing resources and staff.
• Liaise with parents, external agencies, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive support plan for students.
• Provide training and support to teaching staff on effective strategies for supporting students with SEND.
• Monitor student progress and review the effectiveness of interventions, making adjustments as necessary.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• National Award for SEN Coordination or a willingness to undertake it.
• Significant experience in a teaching role, with substantial experience supporting students with SEND.
• In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation, best practices, and assessment frameworks.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
