About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead their learning support department in Leeds . This crucial role involves overseeing the provision for students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the tailored support required to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers, parents, external agencies, and the students themselves to develop and implement effective Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the school's Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) policy and strategy.
• Coordinate the day-to-day provision of education for students with SEND, managing the SEND team and resources effectively.
• Liaise with parents, teachers, external specialists, and other agencies to support students with SEND.
• Conduct regular reviews of IEPs and ensure that all statutory requirements are met.
• Provide training and guidance to teaching staff on SEND best practices and strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of students with SEND and monitor their progress and well-being.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a strong background in teaching.
• Postgraduate qualification or demonstrable experience in Special Educational Needs coordination.
• In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Experience in data analysis and report writing related to student progress.
