About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and empathetic Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead their dedicated support team in Leeds . This vital role involves overseeing the provision for students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the best possible support to achieve their academic and personal goals. You will work closely with teachers, parents, external agencies, and the students themselves to develop and implement effective strategies. This position is integral to the school's commitment to inclusivity and providing a nurturing environment for all learners in West Yorkshire .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the school's Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) policy.
• Coordinate the day-to-day provision for students with SEND, including managing resources and staff.
• Liaise with parents/guardians, teachers, and external specialists to ensure a coordinated approach to support.
• Conduct regular assessments of students' needs and monitor their progress, adjusting support plans as required.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and guidance.
• Provide training and guidance to teaching staff on SEND best practices.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• National Award for SEN Coordination or willingness to undertake it.
• Significant experience working with students with a range of SEND.
• In-depth knowledge of current SEND legislation and guidance.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
