Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO)

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced and compassionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead their dedicated support team in Leeds . This vital role involves overseeing the provision for students with special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring they receive the tailored support required to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers, parents, external agencies, and the students themselves to develop and implement effective Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and promote an inclusive learning environment across the entire school. This position requires a proactive and organised individual with a deep commitment to educational equity.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor the school's SEND policy and provision.
• Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the SEND support system, including managing resources and staff.
• Liaise with parents, carers, and relevant external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students with SEND.
• Support class teachers in identifying and meeting the needs of students with SEND through training and advice.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to the school's self-evaluation and development planning processes.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• The National Award for SEN Coordination or a commitment to obtaining it.
• Proven experience in a teaching role with a significant focus on SEND.
• In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
