Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO)

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and compassionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to take a lead role within a supportive school in Milton Keynes . You will be instrumental in developing and implementing the school's SEND policy, ensuring that all students with special educational needs receive the support they require to achieve their best. This hybrid role involves both on-site coordination and remote administrative tasks, fostering strong communication with parents, external agencies, and the teaching staff. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated advocate for inclusive education, committed to creating an environment where every child feels valued and supported.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor the school's SEND policy and provision.
• Co-ordinate the day-to-day provision of education for students with SEND, including managing support staff.
• Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure effective support plans are in place.
• Advise and train other school staff on SEND best practices and procedures.
• Oversee the assessment and review of students' SEND, ensuring appropriate interventions are implemented.

Requirements

• Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., QTS) and a minimum of 3 years' teaching experience.
• National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to obtain it).
• In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation and guidance in the UK.
• Experience in developing and managing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
