About the Role
Our client seeks an experienced and empathetic Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead their dedicated support team at a progressive school in Milton Keynes . This vital role involves overseeing the provision for students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the support necessary to achieve their full potential. You will be a key advocate for these students, working closely with teachers, parents, and external specialists to create an inclusive and effective learning environment. This is a challenging yet rewarding position for a proactive professional dedicated to equitable education.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the school's SEN policy and provision in line with legal requirements and best practice.
- Co-ordinate the identification and assessment of pupils with special educational needs, including managing Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans.
- Provide guidance and support to teaching staff on SEN strategies and differentiation techniques.
- Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a collaborative approach to student support.
- Monitor the progress of SEN pupils and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and support strategies.
Requirements
- Recognised teaching qualification with significant experience in SEN.
- A National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to undertake training) is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of current SEN legislation and best practices.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Experience in managing a team and working effectively with external professionals.
