About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join their supportive primary school team in Stoke-on-Trent . This vital role involves overseeing the provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring they receive the support necessary to thrive academically and socially. You will work closely with teachers, parents, external agencies, and the pupils themselves to develop and implement effective individual education plans. This position is crucial for fostering an inclusive environment where every child can achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the school's SEND policy and provision.
- Coordinate the day-to-day implementation of the SEND framework, including the identification and assessment of SEND pupils.
- Liaise with parents, teachers, and external professionals to support pupils' learning and development.
- Manage and maintain the SEND register and individual pupil records.
- Provide training and support to school staff on SEND matters.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- A relevant postgraduate qualification or demonstrable significant experience in SEND coordination.
- In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Experience in assessment and monitoring of pupil progress.
